PIXEL XL – Interactive entertainment with a touch of ‘90s nostalgia

Pixel XL Katowice is a 1,500 m² interactive space where the retro aesthetics of the ’80s and ’90s meet modern design. The interior design is based on a grid and pixel motif, creating dynamic, geometric compositions from illuminated modules and mirrored surfaces. 
The centerpiece of the interior is a futuristic stainless-steel bar whose shape resembles a Tetris block. Vibrant colors, neon lights, and unique materials—such as spotted vinyl and a blue mirror—enhance the immersive nature of the space. The harmonious combination of gaming, relaxation, and dining areas makes the space conducive to interaction, transporting visitors into a world of digital nostalgia and dynamic entertainment.

The PIXEL XL space is designed to transport visitors to the nostalgic atmosphere of the ’80s and ’90s while combining it with modern technological solutions. It is a place full of neon glow, vibrant colors, and retro accents.

The biggest challenge we faced here was the thorough renovation of the old building and the integration of modern technologies into its historic structure. The Junior building in Katowice—a recognizable and significant landmark in the context of modernist architecture—was chosen as the site for the newly designed PIXEL XL space. An interesting detail of the project is that the original 1960s ceilings—small domes—were preserved in the hall, and when combined with metallic paint, they create a futuristic effect.
